Proudly Supporting Jimmy Jurd – and they need all the help they can get.
Can you imagine being told that your 21 month old baby has an aggressive brain tumour and without immediate treatment your baby would be gone by Christmas?
This is the current reality (nightmare) a Central Coast family is facing, Natalie and Mark Jurd need your help. Their baby Jimmy is a bright, bubbly, blue eyed little boy who has just begun his battle with an extremely rare form of brain cancer. Jimmy’s medical team at Westmead Children’s hospital say that they are unaware of any other paediatric diagnosis in Australia to date – Jimmy is literally the only child in Australia to be suffering this way. The tumour is an ARTX tumour known as a High Grade Glioma. It is highly aggressive and time is of the essence. We are battling the clock to keep this baby in his parent’s arms where he belongs.
World renowned neurosurgeon Dr Charlie Teo has agreed to consult with Natalie and Mark regarding Jimmy’s care. Estimates of the consult and surgery (if viable) are approximately and likely in excess of $80,000. Jimmy’s best chance of survival is chemotherapy options not available in Australia. The best option is a clinic in Boston, Massachusetts, USA where treatment will cost in excess of $250,000.
This feels like an insurmountable amount of money but we are desperate to do anything to give Jimmy the best chance of growing up. Please be a part of Jimmy’s Journey.
